TESTIMONIALS

‘Steve Maycock is a massively experienced martial artist with several decades of practice and teaching under his belt. He is one of the brave few, in that he places himself and his art under severe pressure and scrutiny to ensure a water tight system. As well as qualifying with honours as an instructor on my master class Steve Maycock is also one of the nicest, most genuine, generous and humble person I have yet to meet in my forty years of MA training. I highly recommend him, both as a friend and as a teacher.’

I am sat here on my sofa feeling very humbled that i have just been asked to write this testimonial for my first martial arts instructor, Steve Maycock.

My martial arts adventure began during the early part of 1985, I was looking to learn a martial art after surviving a near fatal stabbing 6 months prior. I stumbled upon a local community centre where i was told that a Ju-Jitsu class was being held, I had no idea what Ju-Jitsu was but as soon as i peeked my very nervous head around the corner I knew that martial arts was for me.

You always remember your first everything, Car, Kiss, Job etc, for me, as a professional martial artist I will always have a place in my heart for Steve, his knowledge of martial arts is second to none, for well over 35 years Steve has been studying and practicing the arts with exactly the same enthusiasm that he had when we first met all those years ago.

If you are looking for somebody with a wealth of knowledge and experience to bring out the best in you as a martial artist then I recommend you train with Steve.

I have had the pleasure of training and teaching all over the world, I often sit back and wonder what would have happened if I didnt walk into that first Ju jitsu class, they always say the hardest step is the first, I am so glad I took my first steps with you.

Thank you Steve for the honour in writing this for you,

Your student, Eddie.

I have known Steve as both a student and a fellow Instructor for almost 20 years and in that time have seem him develop into an excellent communicator and a very capable Martial Arts Instructor. He has an uncanny knack of making the classes fun whilst maintaining discipline and accelerating the process of learning. I have met many Instructors over the years and train communicators professionally, but for my money Steve has a 'natural' ability and also serves as an excellent role model for his students.

Go on! Train with him and see what I am talking about. You will not be dissapointed...

I have known Steve Maycock for over 32 years, and believe me, he can walk the walk when it comes to Martial Arts. We have sweated, cringed and bled in training. Steve took his original Black belt in Ju Jutsu way back in 1980

with a broken collar bone, arm in sling, he just got on the mat and strutted his stuff! His dedication, knowledge, understanding and passion can only be admired. A good friend, a good martial artist and a good teacher."

Steve's knowledge and passion of Self Defence and Martial Arts is unique. Every time you train with Steve you learn something new- a mark of an excellent instructor- highly recommended.

I have known and trained with Steve Maycock for over 25 years, in fact I used to collect Steve from the bottom of Gravel Hill, Birmingham on my weekly pilgrimages from Kent to Liverpool where we used to train together. He is a very dedicated martial artist and an exceptionally nice man, he will never baulk at testing his skills and although our paths have followed different routes over the latter years, we are still in contact. One of my closest colleagues, who lives in Hungary and coaches Krav Maga there and in Israel, has shown me the benefits of the art and I have no doubt that with Steve's skill and dedication his students in the UK will be receiving first class coaching. I have enjoyed over 50 years in the martial arts and seldom have I meet a person with more honour, skill, determination and humility than Steve, I wish him and his students all of the very best and look forward to meeting with him in the future.

I am a postgraduate student at Birmingham University . I have been at KMB for about a year and a half now and I can honestly say I have enjoyed every session. I am also a triathlete and the acting guide for the visually impaired national champion Sara Butler, so already have a good fitness base. So you may ask why do I do Krav Maga? Personal safety is often a top priority, it is for me and in everything I do. Krav Maga has opened my eyes to the dangerous situations a person can encounter. I feel that Krav Maga has taught me a fundamental skill set to avert dangerous physical confrontations, namely by smart thinking and preparatory training. My strength and confidence have also been improved as a result and I have been able to take advantage of this in my triathlon training and guiding in many situations.
